"What Do Women Want?"

I want a red dress.
I want it flimsy and cheap,
I want it too tight, I want to wear it
until someone tears it off me.
I want it sleeveless and backless,
this dress, so no one has to guess
what's underneath. I want to walk down
the street past Thrifty's and the hardware store
with all those keys glittering in the window,
past Mr. and Mrs. Wong selling day-old
donuts in their café, past the Guerra brothers
slinging pigs from the truck and onto the dolly,
hoisting the slick snouts over their shoulders.
I want to walk like I'm the only
woman on earth and I can have my pick.
I want that red dress bad.
I want it to confirm
your worst fears about me,
to show you how little I care about you
or anything except what
I want. When I find it, I'll pull that garment
from its hanger like I'm choosing a body
to carry me into this world, through
the birth-cries and the love-cries too,
and I'll wear it like bones, like skin,
it'll be the goddamned
dress they bury me in.

Kim Addonizio

For my poem I plan on concentrating a lot on photography and photo manipulation using photoshop and illustrator. I want my handmade book to have a very old, but glamorous feel to it. I want the images to be some what raw, and evoke a lot of emotion out of the viewer.

Project# 2 Idea/Concept

For this project I am not completely sure what I want to create, but I know that I want to deal with human emotion and the way it is shown through facial expression. For this project I have taken many pictures of myself making faces that show many basic human emotions. As far as placing them in to a triptych I know that I want to combine many of the photos to create something with three sides or different aspects. I plan on using both Photoshop and Illustrator extensively for this project to achieve the kind of results that I am striving for.

This is my altered Photoshop project that was changed in Adobe Illustrator. I am new to Illustrator so I found this to be challenging. However, I do like the way that this turned out.

Photoshop Exercise #1

This is my Photoshop exercise #1. I worked on this in and out of class. (I accidentally forgot to post this before so that is why it's out of order.)

Illustrator Exercise #1

Project #1- Finished

This is the final result of my project. The idea behind my project was the thought of daydreaming. I was hoping to portray the feeling that someone would have when they find themselves drifting in to mindless thought. The fact that she is looking in to a computer screen also makes you wonder what she is looking at. It gives this project a sense of mystery.
